School Mass

Daily Mass at Our Lady Help of Christians Academy

Students at the Academy attend the 11:30 a.m. Mass each day, Monday through Friday.  A team of school sacristans helps to prepare for Mass and school boys take turns serving.

Once per month, the school Mass is a Sung Mass, which allows the upper school schola to sing the Propers of the Mass, lets the boys serve the more difficult positions, affords the upper school girls the opportunity to sing polyphony and hymns, and the entire school is able to sing the beautiful Kyriales that we want to become more a part of their lives.

Sung Masses for the 2019-2020 school year will take place on the following dates:

  • October 25, feast of St. Isidore
  • November 22, feast of St. Cecilia
  • December 12, feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe
  • January 13, feast of the Baptism of Our Lord
  • February 26, Ash Wednesday
  • March 19, feast of St. Joseph
  • April (no Sung Mass, because of Holy Week and the Easter holidays)
  • May 1, feast of St. Joseph the Worker

Students also sing for and serve the Solemn High Mass to open the school year in September and the Baccalaureate High Mass at graduation in June.
