Academy Students Perform in the School's 30th Annual Christmas Program

On December 20th the annual Our Lady Help of Christians Academy Christmas concert took place in the parish hall. A tradition deeply rooted in the bones of our school, the student concerts provide a spotlight on the school’s music program.  The value of such subjects, which contribute so significantly to the formation of the children, cannot be overstated. Throughout the 30 years of our school the annual concerts have showcased this esteem for music and music performance.

The Kindergarten through 2nd grades, directed by Mrs. Rachel Bushnell and accompanied by Mrs. Maria Conder, sang a selection of classic Christmas carols, including "Puer Natus" and "Jingle Bells." These songs were accompanied by students ringing hand bells.

The singing then gave way to the Uke Troupe, directed by Miss Allison Isermann, who took to the stage for a brief performance.

Next, wowing the audience with their wonderful performance, the 3rd through 6th grade students, directed by Mrs. Nancy Gallegos and again accompanied by Mrs. Maria Conder, had their turn. Their song selection showcased the composers which the class studied over the course of the semester.

Rounding out the evening, the upper school choir, directed by Mr. Theodore Cheng, gathered on stage for their performance. Their musical selection included acapella arrangements of songs such as the Latin carol, "Gaudete" and the Spanish carol, "Riu, Riu, Chiu."

Following the event, all in attendance enjoyed a reception in the parish hall.
